You can create and store data directly in Builder. This data can be useful for storing anything from product information to details about your application's design.

  • Builder's Data model works like the Page or Section model — you create a model and then add multiple content entries based on it.
  • To create data content, fill out a form.

A Data model acts as a template for your application's data. To create a Data model, do the following:

  1. Go to the Content Models page on your Builder dashboard.
  2. Click + Create Model.
  3. Choose the Data option.
  4. Enter a name and description for the model.

Upon completion, Builder opens the new Data model page.

Example

The video below demonstrates the creation of a Site Themes Data model.

Each Data model consists of one or more customizable fields. To add a field:

  1. Go to the Fields tab within your Data model.
  2. Click + New Field.
  3. Choose a Name and a Type. Choose other options, such as Required or Default Value, as needed.
  4. Add more fields as needed.
  5. Click Save.

At this stage, you're defining the data model, not adding data itself. These fields will be available when you create new data using this model.

Example

The video below demonstrates creating an Accent color field within the Site Themes Data model. It is set to be required and has a default yellow color.

After creating a Data model, add entries based on it.

  1. Go to the Content page in your Builder dashboard.
  2. Click + New Entry.
  3. Select the Data model you just created.
  4. Enter a name for your data entry in the upper-left corner of the page.
  5. Complete the form.

Click Publish to make your data entry accessible on Builder, or leave it as a draft.

Example

The video below demonstrates creating a new Site Theme Data entry called Marketing. This represents thematic colors for the marketing portion of an application.
